Searching the Collections Remotely

Gerber/Hart's online catalog is accessible only on-site. However, you can search the collections remotely via WorldCat, a union catalog showing the holdings of libraries world-wide. Note that unlike our online catalog, WorldCat will not give you circulation status (i.e., whether a book is checked out or not or whether it is only for use in the library) or location status (i.e., whether it is housed in special collections and thus accessible only by appointment), but it will tell you what items Gerber/Hart owns and can be of assistance in determining whether or not a phone call or trip to the library would benefit you. Note also that many of our special collections items are not represented in this catalog, nor do any of our archival collections have records in this database.

WorldCat is accessible at most libraries, and many libraries offer their patrons remote access to this resource. Check with your local library to determine if this is the case.

To limit your search to Gerber/Hart's holdings, use the advanced search screen and, toward the bottom of the screen where it states "limit availability to:," enter Gerber/Hart's "library code," which is GFK. If you have problems with this feature, ask your local librarian for assistance.
