Black Lesbian Archives Tour 2019 headerMaekdo Productions Presents the Black Lesbian Archives Chicago Tour 2019. This opening event for the tour is being sponsored by Gerber/Hart Library and Archives. The Black Lesbian Archives will be open to view on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Gerber/Hart after 12 noon. There will be an opening program 6:00-9:30 pm at Gerber/Hart. The program will include a film screening and follow up discussion with feature filmmaker Rachael Pierce. Rachael Pierce is a queer Christian filmmaker from the South Side of Chicago. Rachael is committed to the work of growing the visibility of Queer people of color on screen and in church leadership. Also at the evening program will be Black Queer Herstory Chicago (BQHC) which is a collection of video journals and short films of Black LGBTQ Women from Chicago, who have participated in In the Life over the past several decades. Chicago is known for being a progressive metropolis with ample LGBTQ history. However, the stories of the black women who contributed to that history are regularly overlooked. BQHC is a film series about visibility, celebration, and education for the present and next generation to come. Programming will be from 6:00-9:30.
